CH&LA Members Recognized at National AH&LA Stars of the Industry AwardsWed Jun 13, 2012
The Chancellor Hotel on Union Square was recognized with a Stars of the Industry Award for a Technology Innovation, the Bardessono Inn & Spa received an award for Good Earthkeeping and Cherie Davis was recognized as the Outstanding General Manager of the Year for a medium property at the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s (AH&LA) Stars of the Industry Awards. These awards were announced during the AH&LA Summer Summit held at the InterContinental Houston in Houston, Texas.
The Chancellor Hotel on Union Square qualified for the national award by winning the California Hotel & Lodging Association Stars of the Industry for Technology Innovation of the Year. According to Wes Tyler, the property’s General Manager, “As the past winner of the Stars of the Industry Guest Relation Award, the Chancellor Hotel needed to step up its game in guest service.” The property did this by creating an app specifically to help guest make reservations, plan their visit to San Francisco and review their stay at the property, among other things.
Bardessono Inn & Spa in Yountville, CA was honored with a Good Earthkeeping award for a small property due to their expansive environmental initiatives. These initiatives include an underground geothermal system to heat and cool guest rooms and over 970 solar panels that source the majority of the property’s electricity. Bardessono Inn & Spa is also California’s first and only LEED Platinum certified hotel.
Cherie Davis, General Manager of the Miyako Hybrid Hotel Torrance won a Stars of the Industry Award for Outstanding General Manager of the Year for a medium Property. The Miyako Hybrid Hotel, which Ms. Davis opened, is ranked first with Trip Advisor in the area and is a LEED certified hotel. Ms. Davis, a 19 year military veteran, believes that to those who have been given much, much is expected - and lives it by giving back at every opportunity.
