ATLANTA, GEORGIA – The W Los Angeles Westwood was recognized with a Stars of the Industry Award for a Special Ongoing Event, the W San Francisco received an award for Good Earthkeeping and Terri Haack, Executive Vice President & Managing Director of Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes was also recognized as the General Manager of the Year for a large property at the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s (AH&LA) Stars of the Industry awards competition announced during the AH&LA Summer Summit held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia.

W Los Angeles Westwood, which qualified for the national award by winning the statewide Stars of the Industry awards of the California Hotel & Lodging Association, was recognized nationally this year for their CHILL event, which operated for 10 weeks throughout winter and turned an otherwise unusable outdoor swimming pool area into a money making, winter wonderland.

W San Francisco was honored with a Good Earthkeeping award for such innovative green initiatives as “Green Meetings”, where all food is organic, biodynamic and or local, and their Zero Waste Events.

Terri Haack, Executive Vice President & Managing Director of Terranea Resort won a Stars of the Industry Award for her instrumental role in opening the 582 room oceanfront resort and creating more than 700 new jobs within the industry.
