CH&LA Board Member David Britton, CHA is Honored with State Leadership Award

Washington, D.C. - The American Hotel & Lodging Association announced the winners of the 2013 State Leadership Awards at their annual Legislative Action Summit. David Britton, CHA, General Manager of the Holiday Inn Torrance was honored with the award for the State of California. The State Leadership Awards were created in 1998 to honor standout members within each partner state of AH&LA who help implement and strengthen programs.

Britton re-joined the Board of Directors of the California Hotel & Lodging Association in 2011 after being the association’s chair in 1996 and has made a significant impact to the organization this past year. Specifically, David spearheaded CH&LA’s Board membership drive this past summer. Not only was David the first Director to recommend membership to other California properties, the email he crafted to encourage membership was utilized as a model by other board members and staff and led to a successful campaign of over 7,000 new rooms in membership.

“On behalf of the California Hotel & Lodging Association, I would like to congratulate David on this very well-deserved recognition. David’s initiative on the membership campaign was contagious for the rest of the Board of Directors, and largely served as the catalyst for our success in increasing membership this past year,” said Lynn Mohrfeld, CAE, President & CEO of CH&LA.
