CH&LA Mission & Overview

Mission Statement
CH&LA is the indispensable resource for communicating and protecting the rights and interests of the California lodging industry, for providing educational training and cost-saving programs for all segments of the industry, and for supporting strategic alliances to promote the value of California tourism and travel.

The California Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) is the largest and most influential state lodging association in the world and is the only California lodging association affiliated with the American Hotel & Lodging Association. CH&LA's history of service to California's lodging industry reaches back 115 years to the California Hotel Association that was organized on November 15, 1893 for the purposes of actively representing the interests and furthering the prestige of the state's burgeoning hotel industry.

Consistently building on the goals and objectives first established in 1893, CH&LA continues to represent and serve all segments of California's lodging industry. CH&LA strives to represent and serve the unique interests of each segment of California's diverse lodging industry.

CH&LA ensures the national interests of the California lodging industry protected and served by its affiliation with the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA). Representing some 10,000 property members nationwide, accounting for more than 1.4 million guest rooms, AH&LA is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and it provides advocacy on Capitol Hill, public relations and image management, education, research and information, and other services to ensure a positive business climate for the U.S. lodging industry.
