American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation Scholarships
The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF) is the
charitable-giving, fund-raising, and endowed fund-management subsidiary of CH&LA's
national affiliate, the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA). Last year
alone, contributors to AH&LEF enabled the Foundation to distributed approximately
$450,000 in scholarship and outreach educational programs to more than 300 students and
hospitality professionals.
AH&LEF's scholarship programs ensure that financial assistance is available to top
students to ensure they finish their degrees in hospitality management.
The American Express, Ecolab, The Steven Hymans Extended Stay Scholarship, and
Lodging Management Program (LMP) scholarship programs are eligible for individual
students to apply directly to the Foundation without nomination from their dean's
office. While applicants do not need to attend an AH&LEF-affiliated hospitality
management program, the American Express scholarship require
applicants to be employed at AH&LA member hotels and the LMP scholarships are
exclusively for high school graduates of the LMP program.
The Annual Scholarship Grant Program, the Rama
Scholarship for the American Dream, and the AAA Five Diamond
Scholarship require the schools to select the student recipients.
The Packard and Hyatt scholarship
competitions require students to be nominated by
their respective schools to enter the competitions. Applications for these programs
must be obtained through the participating school dean's office.
